1955-1965 Alfred Hitchcock

Alfred Hitchcock was born in August 13, 1899. He grew up in England and became an American citizen in 1956. His three most famous movies are Vertigo, Psycho, and The Birds. As punishment's as a kid, Alfred's fatherwoud send him to the local police station with a note saying to lock him up in a cell for ten minutes. His mother would also make him stand at the end of her bed on hours ends. Alfred would use these tactics as themes in some of his films. He had his show, Alfred Hitchcock Present's, from 1955-1965. It made him a celebrity outside of the movie business.

Psycho is considered to be one of Hitchcock's most famous film. Produced on a highly constrained budget of $800,000, it was shot in black-and-white on a spare set. The unprecedented violence of the shower scene, the early demise of the heroine, the innocent lives extinguished by a disturbed murderer were all hallmarks of Hitchcock, copied in many subsequent horror films.

The Birds, inspired by a Daphne Du Maurier short story and by an actual news story about a mysterious infestation of birds in California, was Hitchcock's 49th film. The scenes of the birds attacking included hundreds of shots mixing actual and animated sequences. The cause of the birds' attack is left unanswered, perhaps highlighting the mystery of forces unknown.

In Vertigo, John "Scottie" Ferguson is a retired San Francisco police detective who suffers from acrophobia and Madeleine is the lady who leads him to high places. A wealthy shipbuilder who is an acquaintance from college days approaches Scottie and asks him to follow his beautiful wife, Madeleine. He fears she is going insane, maybe even contemplating suicide, because she believes she is possessed by a dead ancestor. Scottie is skeptical, but agrees after he sees the beautiful Madeleine. Vertigo, was one of the most haunting movie Hollywood has ever produced.
